Origin of Tai Chi- 42. Turn Around Swinging Both Feet

Published by Walker on

In this move you swing each leg in a kick turn like a pendulum and end with a small circular downward kick. Also, during the turn the two legs connected through the crotch should be a single circular swaying entity revolving through space just as a rope with weights on each end would be a single arching entity through space.

Bai means “to swing like a pendulum.” “Lotus” means “foot.” In the old days women’s feet were never called “feet,” they were called “lotuses.”

Another name for the move is “Continuous Pendulum Swing Body Turn.” This emphasizes that the pendulum-like swinging kick are continuous and are associated with turning.
