Origin of Tai Chi- 21. Lift the Right/Left Leg

Reading:

The name describes the move. The leg movements are not kicks. Rolling and circling movements of the hip joints separate the legs.

Close Reading:

Level 1: Paraphrasing- State in your own words the meaning of each sentence.

In this move you simply lift your right or left leg. Don’t kick when you lift your leg. Instead lift your hip joint in a soft round circular motion to create space between the legs.


Level 2: Explicating-

  1. State the main point.
    • Use your hip joints to lift your legs in a soft circular motion..
  2. In other words….
    • Lift your legs from your hips.
  3. For example…
    • When you softly lift your legs from your hips you are able to move them in a circular motion.
